She started acting on television in the late 1990s, and has appeared in many movies, including The Woods and Blue Car Murder by Numbers Blood and Chocolate. Bruckner started her career at age 11 of eleven. The actress appeared in commercials on a few television pilots and on the daytime soap show The Bold and the Beautiful in 1999. When she was 15 years old, Bruckner had her first leading role in the independent movie Blue Car (2002) in which she played a high school student who was involved in a relationship with her teacher who was played by David Strathairn. Roger Ebert said that Bruckner was able to handle the complex script with aplomb. Bruckner received nominations for the Independent Spirit Award for "Best female role in a film" for this role. Her family consisted of three siblings: having a brother and two sisters. Her primary language was Hungarian, and she regularly learned the language in order to be fluent. Bruckner was a Hollywood Californian born to Hungarian parents as well as Russian mothers who had divorced. Her paternal grandmother was German. The couple were married in Hungary and immigrated into the U.S. in 1984 through the refugee camp located in Italy. The siblings of her are three sisters and a brother.
